I was doing good on the diet until today. I skipped breakfast this morning. I really had intended to eat, but time slipped away from me and before I knew it I was running late for Church. Other than that one time, I've managed to eat three meals a day every day.

I'm not too good about logging the food I eat. It's a time consuming task. I wish I could just enter the information in a "journal" type application instead of a database.

I bought a bicycle yesterday and rode 5 miles. I was planning on riding more today, but it's been raining (with lightning), so I decided it wouldn't be the safest thing.

I baked muffins this afternoon and didn't eat ANY! They sure did smell good.. But I held my ground and fought the temptation.

Life Lesson #1

You will not finish your workout any faster by increasing the speed on your Treadclimber.

I kinda cheated... I ate cereal this morning in stead of eggs. BUT.. it was Special K with 7g Protein. I also had a Thomas Mini Bagel with 5g. So I still had a decent protein intake. I still haven't eaten anything between meals. I kinda wanted to this afternoon... but I drank a bottle of water instead and got over it.

My workout this morning was longer than I expected. I bought a balance ball yesterday and used it this morning. Let me tell you.. that thing has got to be dangerous! The most difficult "ball" exercise were oblique crunches. After the first 5 reps, the outside of my lower back developed a hard pinching pain. I have no idea if it was a good or bad pain. But I had to do an extra little stretch after every 3 reps. I decided I'd better verify it's a good pain before I do any more. There is nothing more frustrating than injuring yourself just as you are motivated and ready to make changes.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://personaltrainernyc-clienth.blogspot.com/2006/10/i-kinda-cheated-i-think.html' title='I kinda cheated... Today was my day 2 of week 1. I woke up early enough to cook breakfast. The workout lasted an hour and 15 minutes.

This afternoon I bought a balance ball. I sat on it a few seconds.. that thing sure looks dangerous. I was filled with excitement and anticipation! Today was the first day of my new exercise plan.

I started the morning with a good breakfast. A hard boiled egg, Special K (dry) and a half of a mini bagel (it *is* high protein).

It took an hour and 15 minutes to complete the workout. Terri did a great job estimating my abilities (and she's never even seen me!).

Tomorrow I'll increase the speed on my Treadclimber (I'll finish faster that way..Right? ). I'll do this because my heart rate was at the low end of the target range. I also felt like I wasn't applying myself. I mean, a couple of times I almost felt like the cardio was "relaxing". I'm pretty sure that means it's too easy.

Diet day one

Today was my first full day on the diet program. I had no problems following it. Of course it might not be that easy on a weekday.. I am already waking up at 6am on my workout days (I'm not a morning person). Now I'm going to be cooking breakfast. That means I'll need time to cook, eat and clean. Fortunately, my wonderful husband directed me to the "EASY" button. He suggested I boil some eggs the night before. What a great idea! I love eggs. I like boiled eggs as much as scrambled, poached or fried. So this might work.

I also bought some Special K (with 7g. Protein per serving).

This morning, I ate scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and a half of a flour tortilla for breakfast. I ate lunch and dinner.. No snacks. This seems a little contradictory to the statement I made about only eating when I'm hungry. I mean, if I really only eat when I'm hungry, I wouldn't be reaching for that bag.. Right?

As I began to "unfoil" one of the cups, my husband made comments about the money I had just wasted on a training program that I was ignoring. I justified his comments, telling him I had not yet received the diet information. To which he replied, "You made the commitment when you paid the money."

Grrrrrr. He was right and I knew it! I headed for the trash to toss the half unwrapped cup.

"Wait!" he cried, "bring that to me, I didn't make any commitments."

After my husband confiscated my Reeses Cup, I went to the fridge for a bottle of water. As I opened the door, before my very eyes was a basket of strawberries and a tub of cool whip. YUM! I ate about 3 strawberries dipped in the cool whip. Suddenly, I noticed that bag of Reeses had gotten quiet. It was no longer appealing to me. Guess I was right all along, I only eat when I'm hungry. It's just that there is usually a candy bar or cookies in sight and I grab the first thing that looks good.

Lessons learned: I need to recognize my hunger and take the time to look around for something other than sweets.

Get Ready! 1... 2... 3...

Five days ago I read an article in a magazine about online trainers. Something about the idea caught my attention and I wasn't able to let it go. I spent 4 hours googling the topic.

I must have looked at over 20 different online trainer sites before I stumbled across Terri's site. Most of the others either didn't list any information on their trainers or had trainers that looked like they were just out of high school. I spent my 5th "google hour" researching Terri. Everything I found (and there was a lot) put her way above the others.

I made the decision and now I'm here.

A little about me.. I'm a 48 year old woman. My weight is "normal"... Not over, not under. I only eat when I'm hungry. I've been working out for 4 years. BUT... I'm just not getting the results I should get. It didn't take Terri very long to identify the problem. It seems I have some serious diet issues. I normally skip breakfast and lunch. My veggie input is limited to none.. Of course what I do eat is all wrong.

I've promised 100% commitment to this program. Terri is still putting together my diet. That means I may still have time to finish the bag of reeses miniatures before I'm told I can't :-)

Welcome to TW Training NYC

Well we're off and running starting on Monday with a new client from Texas!
